Like many of us (but not all of us) right now, you might be stuck in a lockdown.
Keep your chill though, we have some brand new Content™ to help pass the time while your banana bread’s in the oven… What’s that smell?
#graphic-design-is-my-passion
It’s important to caveat that this week’s #graphic-design-is-my-passion is brought to you by Dog who wanted to clarify that Graphic Design is definitely his passion.
Last week we had a stan sesh on Naomi Osaka, but when viewing the Japanese version we were left wondering why Japanese web design tends to look so... 90s. Hopefully in future we’ll see them branch off into a completely different set of design principles from those we’re used to, but for now, we’ll defer to Yahoo! for their industry standard.
Do you like Figma? What about tips? Boy, if you answered “why am I reading this” to either of those questions, Zoe has a treat for you. Add a Master Frame to manage your prototype flows, steal an element style for your clipboard, or open more windows for multiplayer mode.
This tip for placing objects over auto layouts is, well:
I’m not sure what to say about the other links generally because I still rate Papyrus but here’s some more pixels that pinged some radars:

#code-city
Alright, talk nerdy to me.
If you didn’t catch the latest Headless Commerce Summit 2021 from Netlify, it’s summarised for ya here. One of our favourite talks was from Manscaped.
Yes, they’re called Manscaped. Yes they sell balls-safe trimmers.
An issue we’ve face with our headless static Gatsby.js stack is integration of ecommerce apps that are usually very plug and play on a simple Shopify site. The developers at Manscaped have also faced such issues.
One solution they had for Yotpo reviews was to paginate chunks of reviews data and store it on their CDN as json files then simply make an http request to grab a file when needed on the client side. How batshit nerdy is that?
Closing out this edition of #code-city, Dog spammed the channel with a bunch of links. These are the ones we actually cared about. No shade (secretly a lot of shade).
Improve on your password fields with the “passworldrules” HTML input tag.
If you’re sick of Homebrew and want to try something else for package management you can try Nix.
And finally here’s Ant-Man versus Hawking, fighting it out at Quantum Chess (feat. Keanu Reeves, because of course).
#vibe
Adnaan got excited about this. Charl was not okay (trust him). It got us thinking about this:
Which was a timely and long-winded way of saying if you want a good book/to improve your whole life, read Jeff Tweedy’s How to Write One Song.
It’s a big vibe, and applies to way more than writing a song.
#processes-and-platforms
Surprise surprise, processes and platforms are #alwaysbeta and they saw the biggest change we’ve had in a while as we migrated to Streamtime. We’re all super excited about it, Brooke most of all:
Coda’s great and all but it was high time to move to an actual project management app. We’ll let you know how it goes.
In other news:
The Org is on a mission to make organisations more transparent.
The Eisenhower Box is an effective method for managing your inbox.
Design System Organiser is a Figma plugin that organises component libraries.
LottieFiles is another Figma Plugin that allows you to add Lottie animations.
Capitalize My Title capitalises your titles in whatever style your heart desires.
